Janis Blyth’s art captures the vitality and spirit of people and nature as they become entwined. Using whimsical imagery throughout her work her paintings capture a soulful reflection on life, family and environment; they offer a playful approach to life’s challenges and victories.
Janis worked in fashion retail after graduating from UVIC with a Fine Arts degree. This influenced some of her creativity using patterns and layering of paint which was similar to the build up of fabrics and textures to create a personality with fashion. While raising her family in Vancouver, Janis participated in numerous group and solo shows. Moving to the Okanagan in 2010, she embraced the wine industry and its richness of character into her art. Showing in different wineries and mingling with tourists, Janis’ art flourished. Wine labels were created and great memories made but the pull to be with family brought Janis and her husband back to Victoria to build new experiences.
