A fresh, airy vibe accentuates this west coast contemporary home designed and built by LIDA Homes. Defined by luxurious materials and showstopping features, every detail was meticulously considered by these young professionals and first-time custom home builders who worked with Shawn Richardson, interior designer for LIDA Homes. Featured as a lead designer on HGTV and the hit show Property Brothers, Richardson consulted with the design-savvy couple on space design and material selections. Together they created a breezy three-bedroom, three bathroom home in North Saanich that enjoys glimpses of the ocean from the top floor.

In the kitchen, top of the line stainless steel appliances and high-quality finishes punctuate this spacious open plan. As the kitchen’s focal point, the waterfall edge island in Caesarstone quartz functions as a place to prep food and eat-in with ample storage opportunities. All millwork in this contemporary home was meticulously done by Lida Homes. The porcelain tile backsplash is an easy to clean material and completely stain and water-resistant.

With clean lines and a strong presence, waterfall edge islands offer a visually appealing focal point in an open concept main floor. They provide symmetry and balance and practically speaking, allow more seats for eat-in opportunities. Walnut on the base of the island serves as a warm contrast in the predominantly neutral-toned kitchen.

Wide plank flooring throughout gives the home a touch of west coast warmth and sense of visual cohesiveness.

A soaring two-story rock fireplace wall accentuates the living area’s high ceilings and serves as a showstopping element in the open plan. Eldorado stacked stone in ‘Daybreak’ provides a classic elegance and continues the casual neutral palette. Two stories of windows allow the home to be flooded in natural light throughout the year.

Capitalizing on the double height ceilings, the interior glass and steel walkway hovers over the living area bringing a sense of connectedness to the home by allowing the upper level to communicate with the main floor.
