After a career in the social services, Louise Monfette decided to devote her energy to her passion for art. She has studied at the Ontario College of Art and the Victoria College of Art, graduating from VCA in 2003. Since then she has shown in galleries in Victoria, Vancouver and the lower mainland. Her work has won awards from the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Sooke Fine Art and the Look Show.
Monfette enjoys the challenge of moving between different media, doing both sculpture and painting. She also teaches abstract painting and collage courses locally. Her abstract series is inspired by landscape — whether it is a vista over the ocean or a crack in a rock face.
