It’s the elusive beauty in our everyday lives that drives Jonathan Gleed as an artist. His paintings of urban landscapes capture glimpses of our existence that may be overlooked in our modern lives of busy schedules and Smartphones. “I’ve always loved cities. The design of our environments and how we inhabit them fascinates me, especially when natural and built elements collide.” To capture these moments of splendor, Jonathan hits the pavement.
Working from his home studio in Fairfield, where he has become a highlight of the annual Fairfield Artists Studio Tour, Jonathan regularly welcomes his collectors and neighbours into his studio to glimpse his works in progress. They often find him being playful with a proven technique. As a self-taught artist he enjoys pushing himself to constantly try new things while maintaining his signature style. “Connecting with people through my art is something I find very inspiring. People are so open and honest about what they think about artwork and they really want you to know when a piece has connected with them. I’m so grateful for that.”
