Tucked away in a protected North Saanich cove, this custom new-build was designed to reflect the vibrant and artistic nature of its owners. Showcasing rugged materials, live edge local timbers, quartzite and embellished concrete floors, this design achieved a dramatic aesthetic that was both bold and visually dynamic.
Optimizing outdoor space, the design incorporates fire pits, an outdoor kitchen and an extravagant water features to parallel the level of detail found inside the home. Capitalizing on the home’s waterfront view, tilt-and-turn windows were thoughtfully implemented, while dramatic lighting and high vaulted ceilings contribute to the show-stopping aesthetic.
This west coast inspired custom build is just as beautiful inside as out. To mimic the ruggedness of its natural landscape, choosing natural and textured materials became integral to the design. Lining the entry with landscaping brightened up the moody exterior while the home’s large windows and glass garage helped create an openness that seamlessly transitioned the outdoors in.
Gull Haven’s entryway sets the tone for the level of detail found inside the home. Lining the floor with a concrete pathway, embellished by brass detailing helped create an immediate focal point that draws your eye toward the floor-to-ceiling custom sculpture display. Showcasing a live edge console table and bench, this space brilliantly achieves a rustic and masculine mountain aesthetic that is sculpturally intricate and effortlessly bold.
Contrasting cabinetry and sleek finishes were used to create a bold and luxurious space perfect for entertaining. The integration of vaulted ceilings created a sense of openness while the live edge display shelves and natural stone remain loyal to the home’s aesthetic.
For a family with a love for entertaining, it was important that the kitchen be as equally functional as it was beautiful. Grounding the design with a custom hood fan, the space seamlessly blends materials, colours and textures to create a perfect balance. The implementation of custom storage contributed to the sleek and minimalist aesthetic, while the kitchen’s Miele appliances and custom coffee centre elevated its luxuriousness.
Effortlessly transitioning to the dining room, this space quickly became an entertainers dream. Showcasing dramatic lighting, natural tones, and raw and rugged materials, the design team stayed loyal to the home’s west coast roots.
The low profile counter stools contribute to the sleekness of the space, while the large kitchen island and white countertop keep the kitchen clean and bright.
Capitalizing on the home’s waterfront location, the living area integrated floor-to-ceiling windows and a pallet of natural tones to blur the lines between indoors and out. Creating a focal point with the room’s bold fireplace surround, the team was able to achieve a dramatic aesthetic, softened by simplistic and airy lighting.
Originally an office space, this area was transformed into a fully equipped bar that includes pool, pinball and shuffle board. With a love of entertaining, this space became an important component of the design, mirroring the lifestyle of the couple living within it.
Contrasting the natural toned tile with a floating double vanity, this bathroom, equipped with a double shower, is the perfect place to unwind after a long day.
Aiming to capitalize on the property’s outdoor space, fire pits, high-end water features and luxurious outdoor seating became an integral component of the design. Emphasizing a love for the outdoors, it became important to create a space that paralleled the couples’ love of nature.
