EQ3’s new flagship store in the Chelsea district of New York has proven that Canadian furniture design has made its mark and is here to stay. Influenced by a Scandinavian aesthetic with an Italian sense of timelessness, each EQ3 piece is rigorously conceptualized, designed, and executed by a select group of Canada’s leading designers. Inspiring the mid-range furniture market, the designers at EQ3 claim that luxury is boring and that good design need not cost a fortune.
The furniture designs boast sleek silhouettes that aren’t overly trendy and built with raw materials, they are proven to age well with time. One of the brand’s statements is to “consider mental space more valuable than square footage.”
Which brings us to the space efficient EQ3 Bar Cart, designed by Thom Fougere Studio. Designed to function as a versatile serving cart and a mobile side table, the three-legged solid ash structure and handle is maneuverable on its two hind wheels. The top tray can be removed from the cart’s structure and be used as a portable serving tray. Available in black oak, natural oak and walnut, the tray’s top leather surface makes for a soft, yet resilient surface to store serving ware. The cart is paired with the iconic Replay Sofa in Rust Red and can be personalized with over 130 fabrics and leathers to choose from.
