With its West Coast contemporary aesthetic, striking architectural details, and creative combination of high-end materials, this custom home exemplifies what it means to fully embrace the waterfront views. Built by TS Williams Construction, featuring extensive millwork by Jason Good of Jason Good Custom Cabinets, the interior orientation captures the stunning vistas from every angle, most notably from the sleek kitchen.
Bold granite veining mingles with high-impact millwork in this contemporary kitchen where vertical grain-matched walnut takes a starring role in the open-concept design. Integrated handles and appliances concealed behind walnut panels streamline the cabinetry, allowing the luxurious materials to shine. Sandy Nygaard is credited with designing the interior to include striking granite countertops on the island, main countertops, and full-height backsplash of the coffee bar for a cohesive finish.
The entire kitchen showcases Good’s master craftsmanship, from the customized floating dining buffet with a steel and walnut frame surround to the grain-matched walnut cabinet doors with clever storage solutions including a customized knife block to store knives vertically, and inserts for baking sheets and spices.
The island is the hardest working feature providing seating, storage on all sides, and a cooktop with a downdraft that relinquishes the need for a hood fan to keep sightlines unobstructed. A floating peninsula features a hot-pressed steel support with Basalt Blue slate countertops to serve as a casual eat-in bar and visual divide between the kitchen and dining area. The thin-profile pendant light over the peninsula echoes the room’s angular lines and practically disappears in the design.
The kitchen’s linear design allows the finely crafted millwork to achieve harmony between function and aesthetic for a contemporary feel that celebrates the dwelling’s natural surroundings.
