A four-day design event showcasing the Pacific Northwest’s finest designers and makers, ADDRESS will return to Vancouver for the fourth year with a host of new exhibitors and programming. Founded in 2014 by furniture designer Kate Duncan, the event is host to designers and makers from multiple disciplines including furniture, lighting, art and accessories. Set in the beautiful historic Ellis Building downtown Vancouver, May 25th/2017 marks the show’s infamous launch party to kick off the four-day show and introduce the exciting new exhibitors.
Invited to participate at ADDRESS for their second consecutive year, Autonomous Furniture, led by principal and designer, Kirk Van Ludwig will join 30 other local designers curated by Duncan. In just four years, the popular design event has established itself as the hub for emerging designers and the region’s top talent. Each designer is selected for their unique methods that are deeply rooted in refined aesthetics, advanced production processes and use of exceptional materials.
Launching their brand update at ADDRESS, Autonomous Furniture is thrilled to be showing some new products this year. “We have evolved in our four years as Autonomous Furniture — both in our furniture designs and who we are as a company. We wanted our brand to reflect our new sense of self and to accurately express our latest statement: Evoke Drama. We are designers and craftsmen, disrupting the modern home with dramatically contemporary furnishings, built from the finest wood in the world.”
Known for west coast contemporary design, Autonomous Furniture is in a class of its own, challenging the standards of modernity with refined lines and mixed materials that heighten the sophistication and drama of each piece. Evoke drama plays to the senses, implying that their work can elicit a powerful response in people and spaces, moving them to dramatic effect. And that happens frequently upon delivery to a client – it isn’t unheard of for Autonomous clients to be moved to tears of joy.
This year at ADDRESS, Autonomous will be showcasing their latest products including the Saxe Nesting Tables (above), Freeman bench and the D7 Console Table (below). Known for its unique format, in lieu of traditional booths, exhibitors at ADDRESS collaborate on styled vignettes to create cohesive spaces.
“The aim of this approach is to create a more immersive experience to engage and inspire spectators. It’s more of a lifestyle event than a tradeshow,” says Duncan.
For Autonomous, ADDRESS is that perfect mid-year point before exhibiting at the distinguished Interior Design Show in the fall. “Being a part of ADDRESS allows us to continue to be a part of the Vancouver design community. Vancouver’s design scene is growing and making international headlines and Kate Duncan and her team have done a great job at gaining a following in her few years of curating ADDRESS. It draws international attention from reputable sources like the Globe and Mail and Azure magazine and we can’t wait to be a part of it again.” (Freeman Bench below)
New this year, ADDRESS will feature design-centric programming including Design Minds, a panel conversation hosted by GRAY Magazine and Designer Happy Hour, a popular local networking event for creatives.
