Phyllis Anderson was born, raised, and educated in Alberta before moving to Vancouver Island in 2003. Nearly twenty-five years of oil painting, Phyllis’ paintings are impressions of the familiar: floral fields, buildings, and the sea. Phyllis views her painting career as an ongoing history of self-described “artistic obsessions” of places she has been and the things she has seen. A graduate of the University of Alberta (B.Ed.), Phyllis evolved through a variety of careers as a teacher, artisan, businesswoman, member of education-related boards, and now a Canadian artist. Phyllis studied art at Red Deer College, the Alberta College of Art and Design, the University of Calgary, Lester B. Pearson College, and at various workshops across western Canada. Having shown at Galleries in Alberta and British Columbia, Phyllis’ paintings have a substantial following, including public and private collections across Canada, in the United States, Britain, and beyond.
