This is a custom build in picturesque Port Alberni, in the heart of Vancouver Island. We wanted to modernize a craftsman style house by adding large windows and expanding doors throughout the home. From three-inch kitchen countertops to custom cabinetry and high-end materials, every finish was carefully curated.
An all-white kitchen features professional-grade appliances, custom classic cabinetry and millwork, and a textured tile backsplash, reminiscent of a handmade Italian tile. Three-inch thick countertops throughout add a level of sophistication to this bright and airy kitchen. The kitchen window comes down to counter height so the quartz runs right into it and is trimmed out with marble Schluter.
Twelve-foot sliding doors open to a large covered porch with vaulted ceiling – extending the vault from the living room for a seamless transition. The frame television was added to display art while the TV was not in use. Hand-scraped oak hardwood flooring throughout adds warmth and texture. Interior stair treads are made of custom kiln-dried solid fir timbers, planed to perfection, and stained to match the oak hardwood.
Eight-foot doors were installed throughout the entire lower floor with custom-made wide trim and casing.
The master bedroom has vaulted ceiling with a grand wood-bead chandelier and eight-foot-tall French doors leading out to a covered porch.
Master ensuite has a gorgeous walk-in shower with rain shower for his & her sides. It was tiled with a beautiful herringbone pattern, which is mimicked on the opposite side housing custom floating vanity with a rough cedar front and 3” quartz countertop, vessel sinks, and wall-mounted faucets. Beveled mirrors and matching frames are the perfect finishing touch to this beauty of a bathroom.
Children’s rooms were designed to suit each daughter’s personality. A 70-year-old antique furniture set passed down was the inspiration behind the design for the blush pink bedroom. It also features wallpaper from Rocky Mountain Wall Decals.
A bohemian vibe featuring a vintage macrame wall hanging from the 1960s and floral art prints were the jumping-off point for the teal room.
The powder room features a nine-inch mitred front edge quartz and luxe gold faucets and accessories by Brizo, with vanity pulls from Anthropologie. Every room was finished with exquisite attention detail and design.
